But in the 21st century, we can do better. Much better. How about at least 10 more senses?
Introducing… Cybersenses.
Imagine that you’re one a hollywood war movie. You’re clearing out a hostile neighborhood. You see a shadowy figure dodge into an alley up ahead through the smoke and haze. Looks like trouble. You take cover. Suddenly, you feel a bullet wiz by your head coming form behind. At the same moment, using your new location cybersense, you feel one of your teammates move in position behind you. Then you hear a burst of machine gun fire followed by a triumphant shout from behind. Your position is safe. Using your location cybersense, you feel your other squad members advance. You are all a seamless team, moving as one unassailable unit. At all times, you know where they are, and they know where you are, all through a cyber enhanced sense of touch.
This is an example of a new cybersense called location awareness. Personally, I wanted something like this to keep tabs on my parents while I was their memory caretaker towards the end of their lives.
Cyber senses work by tickling your touch nerves. You’ll literally always be in touch with your newfound cyberpowers. [Image compass with a spark leaping to a nerve] While there is an app for almost anything, it’s not just an intuitive part of you like your new cybersense.
Cybersenses come in two versions:
- The “try it first” stick on kind…
- And the “it’s just a part of me” implants.
By the way, Having a cheaper and more expensive version also makes great sense from a marketing and publicity perspective. There will also be further upsell paths. For example, how about a quantified self vitality leaderboard for you and your gm buddies. Or, how do you stack up against Bryan Johnson?
The Cybersense product line forms a solid marketing funnel.
Although Cybersenses will initially be targeted at organizations of high risk professions (C2C) who need specific “spidey senses,” a “internet of bodies (IoB)” network effect will eventually pull health enthusiasts and then the mass market.
